How to Make Homemade Spinach Dip in a Bread Bowl

Spinach dip has been around for along time, adding it to a bread bowl makes it easy to serve.

Whats good about homemade spinach dip is, its a great way to get your children to eat veggies. This recipe is also a fun, easy way to get your children involved in helping in the kitchen.

Don't forget to tell them to wash their hands. They will be ripping the bread into bite size pieces.

Have fun!

What You Will Need

16 0z. of sour cream

1 package of powder Ranch dressing

1 box of frozen spinach, thawed and drained

1 package of dried beef, optional, if vegetarian leave this out

1 small onion chopped fine

1 round loaf of pumpernickel bread, or any round loaf of bread you prefer

1 cup mayo

How to Prepare Homemade Spinach Dip

Take your round loaf of bread and cut the top off, dig the middle out and save. Mix together  all the ingredients and pour into the middle of the bread bowl so it is just a little above the bowl.

Place the bread bowl on a nice serving platter, take the top and middle you scooped out and rip into bite size pieces, place around the Spinach Dip Bread Bowl.

There you have it! Homemade Spinach Dip in a Bread Bowl!

If You Like

When making your Homemade Spinach Dip Bread Bowl, you can rinse the Dried Beef off under cold water to get some of the salt off.

You may also add shrimp or crab meet instead of the Dried Beef. If you are a vegetarian you may leave the meat out all together.

If you would like a top on the Bread Bowl, maybe for traveling, leave the top whole and place back on top of the loaf. You can then rip it up hen ready to use.

If you want to make the Homemade Spinach Dip more festive you can add green food coloring to the Spinach Dip!

Looks fun and tasty too. I'm wondering if low fat sour cream and mayo would work just as well for calorie-conscious folks. Maybe even use blended cottage cheese? I love the bread bowl. I'm currently in love with pumpernickel fresh from the bakery UM! And as for homemade dips, they're the best! You know what goes in them, for one thing, as well as what doesn't. I'm appalled at how many prepared things have MSG in them. But I once had a cheese ball recipe that called for something like a half-cup of MSG! Can you even imagine how horrid that was for health? It was before sodium was pinpointed as a culprit. Whew.

Thanks for sharing this great idea!

Good information from you. I liked spinach and I always recommend this vegetable to my student. My mom also love to create different tastes from different recipes. With zinc substance, I thought spinach is the best. That's why Popeye like spinach, LOL. Thank you very much.
