Liguine and Clam Sauce Recipe

This is the cheaters way to make Linguine and Clam Sauce. I tried making the clam sauce from scratch a couple of times and it tasted bland. I just could not get the right amount of spices in it. I like making it with the Progresso Clam Sauce because, all the right spices and the right amount of spices are already in there. This recipe can be made in the time it takes to cook the Linguine. Impress your family and friends. They will think you cooked all day.

Linguine and Clam Sauce - What you will need

  • One large pot
  • One small pot
  • Box of Linguine
  • Grated Cheese
  •  15 oz(425g) Progresso White Clam Sauce or Red - how many you need depends on how many you are feeding. 2 cans will feed four
  • can of minced Clams - you add more if making more

Preparing Linguine and Clam Sauce

Cook Linguine according to the directions on the box. Add the clam sauce and minced clams to the small pot. Simmer till hot and just boiling.

Do not add the Linguine to the clam sauce. The Linguine will suck up all the sauce. Instead put a serving of linguine to each bowl then ladle the clam sauce over the linguine. Top with grated cheese

Serving Suggestions

The cans of Progresso Clam Sauce will run you around $4.00 a can and if you have to make a few cans it can get costly. Linguine is filling but to make it stretch I also make a salad and garlic bread to serve with it.

One of my favorites to put on the table. I make some mean home made clam sauce and I'll sure give this one a try. Yes, this frog knows how to cook. The secret to overcoming the blandness is how you hold your mouth when you're concocting it! LOL. Actually, it is in how one shakes the spice containers.

Thanks for sharing. Up, up and away.

That's a useful link Tina - but is Progresso Clam Sauce a brand name? - I've never seen it either in the UK (where I am staying for a couple of weeks) or back home in Spain where the supermarkets where I live have a very limited selection!

Suki, yes it is sorry. You may not have it there. I will put a pic up so you can see it

I've used this recipe. It's fast, easy and works. The only thing I add to it is a pat or two of unsalted butter to the sauce to add flavor and to thicken the sauce a bit.
